The Spotted Chook Ferme Auberge (farm inn) is an enchanting French inspired Country Inn 'nestled' in the rolling countryside surrounding the picturesque village of Montville, in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. It was lovingly built and decorated by Jane and Leeroy Hutton, who were inspired by their travels through rural France and Austria to re-create a unique haven with beautiful decor, exquisite food and welcoming hospitality. Jane and Leeroy and their twin daughters, Emily and Chloe welcome you. The decor of the Spotted Chook (named after much loved spotted hens) evokes a bright and breezy ambience with all rooms painted in vibrant French wash paints, decorated with a selection of country antiques and a whimsical collection of soft furnishings, fittings and art. The Spotted Chook brings a distinctly Australian flavour to the name and reflects the Huttons love of their colourful brood of chickens. This delightful Auberge offers guests the opportunity to relax and unwind from the hustle and bustle of everyday life in tranquil surroundings. Amelie’s Petite Maison is a little corner of French romance. Chandeliers, king size bed, big white sofa in front of the fireplace and peaceful rural views. Everything you need to nest here as long as you want. Kitchenette, BBQ, spa on the deck, make this your home while you stay. Turn the air-conditioning on in summer to keep things cool.

Like a slice of Paris, soft romantic colours and a touch of gold. The Gilded Room offers a cozy spot to enjoy the sunset over the valley, or luxuriate in the starlet bath looking out to the stars. Snuggle in front of the fire on cold winter nights, or climb into the queen sized hand painted gilded bed.

Perched above on its own, the loft offers a spacious retreat, with hand turned queen sized French sleigh bed, toile curtains and private verandah overlooking the valley. Spoil yourself or someone special. Snuggle down with the fire on in winter, or enjoy the air-conditioning for summer or winter comfort.

Like a slice of French Provence, the Buttercup Chamber offers the warmth of buttery yellows and raspberry toile, the romance of chandeliers and queen sized iron bed and views to nestle into from the squishy feather sofa. Air-conditioned for summer and winter comfort, the fireplace provides cozy winter warmth.

Fresh and bright, opening directly onto the garden with its magnificent gazebo, the Snowpea suite is perfect for a couple or family looking for a country escape. Queen sized hand painted bed with 2 single sleigh beds tucked around the corner for privacy.

Speak with us to arrange a romantic dinner. We use the freshest local seasonal produce to prepare our daily menu that reflects a fusion of Australian/French cuisine. Dinner is served with our home made fresh ciabatta, French rye or pretzel rolls. Saturday evenings are a regular dining event and other nights by arrangement only. Bookings are essential before arrival. Please note that we offer a set menu only, this is designed around the guests dining that particular evening – we ask for your dislikes and then get creative! For the energetic the Spotted Chook offers the chance to roam the hills, enjoy a game of boules, or head further afield to visit some of the attractions in the surrounding area. These include swimming or fishing at Lake Baroon, brisk bushwalks through the Kondalilla Falls or the Obi Obi Gorge or the Great Walks of Queensland which start at Lake Baroon. Sample some of the local wines with Settler’s Rise Winery within walking distance, or follow the wine trail to Flaxton, Maleny and Kenilworth. Montville, a unique mountain village with a selection of shops, galleries and restaurants is only a couple of minutes by car, or if you need to walk off breakfast, a quick stroll along Western Ave. The Hinterland hosts a wide range of festivals and exhibitions throughout the year, book your escape to take advantage of one of these. Ask us about events coming up. If rest and relaxation suggest a slower pace to you, relax on the verandah or in the guest lounge with one of our large selection of books and magazines. The Spotted Chook and Amelie’s is a delightful place to wed the one you love, or celebrate other occasions with family, friends or colleagues. It is an ideal small conference or workshop venue, providing the perfect spot for reflection and creativity. We can give you that boutique wedding or celebration with a simple, elegant country feel. Our French gazebo is positioned in the garden to take in the views across the valley as you take your special vows, or just enjoy a sunset drink. A walkway that leads down to the gazebo gives your friends, relatives and guests little glimpses of you if you want to make a spectacular arrival. We cater for sit down weddings and functions 10 - 45 and cocktail weddings 10 - 80. The food is tailored around your choices and the alcohol is byo. With a function, we ask that you book all 5 rooms, we can help organize accommodation near by for other guests. Email us and we can send you our wedding information package. Why not honeymoon in our gorgeous Amelie’s Petite Maison, or one of the other rooms? We can offer wonderful packages with breakfasts and dinner, maybe a massage in house.

Children under 6 by arrangement. We are happy for children over 6 to come any time if we have the snowpea suite available.

"Cancellation policy" We require 7 days notice or a 50% of stay fee applies. A $50 booking fee applies per room to all cancellations made before 7 days. No refunds if less then 24 hours or no show.

10% surcharge for public holidays apply (Christmas, New Year prices on application).
